Self-Development Retreats

In the self-development retreats we enter into an in depth exploration of common conundrums like: What is connectedness? What is authenticity? How can we be more at ease in the world, etc. We draw upon both Eastern and Western philosophy and humanistic psychology to provide a foundation for this investigation.

Retreats consist of talks on the theme of the retreat, interactive emotional awareness exercises, guided and silent meditations, yoga and body-awareness practices. On most retreats there is also a half-day hike in the National Park which will include forest bathing, a Japanese awareness practice.

Most of these retreats take place at my own retreat centre AlmaMundi in Catalonia, Spain. Please check the website for more info.

Workshops

I give a variety of workshops. Most workshops that I hold are focused on raising emotional understanding of ourselves and others, in doing this I enter into an in depth exploration of common conundrums like: What is connectedness? What is authenticity? How can we be more at ease in the world? What makes us feel more alive? Other workshops might be more focused on learning how to manage or process our emotions, in these sessions we will work a lot with breath, body-awareness, meditation and guided imagery. Furthermore I also give workshops on Emotional Intelligence for businesses.

Classes

I give emotional awareness, mindfulness and meditation classes. The emotion awareness and mindfulness classes involve a 15-20 short talk introducing the topic, after which we have an emotional awareness exercise, and finish with an integrative meditation.

The meditation that I teach is called somatic meditation. It focuses mainly on breathing and body-sensations. Because we live in an era of great disembodiment where we find ourselves out of touch with our physical existence and our emotions, I find this type of meditation most important and very beneficial. Our body becomes the teacher that will show us the way towards energetic blockages of pinned up emotions that have created a psychological rigidity and eventually, a lack of aliveness. If we meditate 'with' the body we learn to locate internal tensions and how to release them. By generating more awareness in our bodies - not just in our heads - we create an openness of our physical body which eventually makes space for more joy and vitality.
